Meat Plant Always Has 165° F Central Hot Water

A Kansas premium Black Angus Beef products processor was struggling with an aging direct fire central hot water system.  The hot water system was failing and had become a maintenance nightmare.  The man-hours needed for maintenance were a cash drain to the plant.  Plant Engineers and Maintenance Supervisors were familiar with Direct Steam Injection (DSI) because a water heating unit, the EZ Heater®, was a standard part of their carcass wash system manufactured by Chad.  The engineers liked the way the water heater instantly controlled temperature and they trusted the water to always be at the set-point temperature.  In fact, they’d never had maintenance issues with the EZ Heater, it simply worked as designed and was energy efficient. "I'd say the EZ Heater is pretty much bullet proof," says the chief specifying engineer at the plant, 'it never stops working and never needs acid baths.'

Hydro-Thermal designed and delivered a complete energy efficient central hot water skid in less than 6 weeks.  On the day of start-up, a Hydro-Thermal engineer guided the process and in less than ½ day the skid was plumbed and running, producing hot water at exactly 165° F [72°C] even at peak usage times.
