Meat Processing: Hose Stations

A meat processing plant needed to supply mulitple hose stations throughout the plant with consistent hot water from large tanks for cleanup and sanitizing processing stations and to sanitize cutting utensils. One location served by a shell and tube heat exchanger did not maintain consistent temperatures for proper cleanup. Operation and maintenance costs escalated as the equipment aged. The plant needed to: maintain accurate temperature at setpoints and reduce energy costs and cycle times.

SOLUTION

Hydro-Thermal® installed EZ Heater® model H2030 to replace the shell and tube heat exchanger. This size direct steam injection heater is perfect for the flow rates at this station and always provides hot water at the set-point temperature. Additionally, this plant is experiencing: hot water on demand, 40% reduction in cycle times, 20% decrease in energy costs, and eliminated scaling and fouling.
