Providing an efficient method for cleaning a separator while reducing the time required to complete the CIP process

The customer was experiencing difficulties cleaning a separator in their plant. The existing CIP system was located in a remote area which resulted in difficulty maintaining adequate temperature levels required to clean the separator, extended cleaning times, and increased chemical usage. It was determined that a dedicated CIP system was needed in the vicinity of the plant where the separator was located. Space limitations resulted in the Project Engineer looking at a single tank CIP system utilizing a shell and tube heat exchanger; however this would require a condensate return system which was not available in the area. The time and expense required to install a condensate return system prompted the customer to consider other alternatives.

The solution was to install and automatic A110AL Hydroheater. Utilizing the direct steam injection unit as the heat exchanger resulted in 100% efficient use of the steam.
