Clean-in-place (CIP) and bottling lines always have enough hot water

A large beer producer needed to save energy, but also needed to ensure enough hot water at peak times to perform their CIP on bottle and canning lines. The CIP process runs several times per week to sanitize the bottling lines. In this process, hot water is mixed with a cleaning solution. They were using a heat exchanger that could not keep up with demand and temperatures varied widely. The heat exchanger also tended to scale and foul, costing precious maintenance time and increased costs.


A Hydroheater® was installed to heat the water to exacting 185°F [86°C] temperatures with a solution for accurate cleaning. Steam from the boiler contains food grade chemicals which are no problem for the Hydroheater.


The company now experiences accurate temperature control for secure sanitation with no scaling issues and an added energy savings bonus. This company likes the direct steam injection systems so much that they continue to install them in other areas of their plant.
