Hospital Laundry Assures Sanitation with Direct Steam Injection

A large commercial laundry serving Seattle Hospital Hill was using a shell & tube heat exchanger that was unable to keep up with the rapid changes and precise temperatures needed to run the laundry 22 hours per day. To compensate for temperature fluctuations and to ensure proper sanitation of the laundry, the company increased chemical applications and had a wait time when the water was not hot enough.

They installed a four inch steam heater known as the EZ Heater®, to supply hot water to the five 450 lb [204kg] and five 900lb [408kg] washers. The steam injection cooker responds instantaneously to water temperature changes and maintains a 140°F [60°C] set-point water temperature. The laundry runs 22 hours each day and reports no down-time due to hot water demands. They are also using fewer chemicals because the water is always at the optimal temperatures at which the chemicals are most effective.

Industrial Laundry

The laundry now has all the hot water they need and is saving money on energy and chemicals.

Unlike heat exchangers or spargers, the Hydroheater® is designed only for your process conditions and unique application. We need to know a few things about your conditions, such as temperature range, steam pressure, and flow rates to size a heater specifically for you. When you click on our application data sheet and fill in the information, we will contact you within one business day. After an initial conversation with a sales representative or one of our engineers, we will then provide you with a custom quote for the Hydroheater best suited for your process.

Yes, I want to save energy and have more control using direct steam injection. Please complete the Application Data Sheet which helps us understand your process conditions such as fluid density, flow rates and temperature parameters.
